The tour takes you to Nyungwe Forest Park in the South West of Rwanda. Nyungwe forest covers over 10000sq.km in size. The forest habituates primates including chimpanzees and colobus monkeys, butterflies and about 300 recorded bird species of birds. On this trip, you will also Visit cultural and heritage sites including the palace of former king of Rwanda in Nyanza Nyanza and the Museum in Butare. This is a scheduled safari which departs twice a month every first Thursday and third Thursday of the month.
Gorilla tracking is a rewarding self experience adventure in the tropical rain forests of Africa. You can track these closest relatives to human in Parc National des Volcans (PNV) – Rwanda or Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park (BINP) – Uganda or in Congo depending on the availability of Gorilla permits. For Rwanda each gorilla permit costs USD 750 while for Uganda each gorilla permit costs USD 500. On this trip, you will visit Nyungwe Forest Park in the South-West and PNV in the North of Rwanda which habituates approximately 300 mountain gorilla species. Seven Gorilla families are habituated for tracking. They include; Mahoro and Umubano families found on the Visoke volcano, Hirwa family on the Sabinyo volcano and Sabinyo family located between the Sabinyo and Visoke volcanoes. There are also Susa family with 35 individuals on the Karisimbi volcano and 13 individuals on the Sabinyo volcano. There is Kwitonda family as well. Each of the Gorilla families allow a maximum of 8 tourists tracking per day. On addition to gorilla tracking, you may also climb the Visoke volcano and track other primates including golden monkeys. You will also visit the Dian Fossey’s Karisoke Research Centre on a village walk. This is a scheduled safari, departing every first Tuesday and Friday of the Month.

Day 1: Arrival
Arrive in Kigali at Kanombe airport where you will Meet and greet our driver guide then transfer to a hotel in Kigali City. O/N: Hotel Chez Lando (BB).

Day 2: Kigali – Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast you will head for Nyungwe Forest National Park. Make stops en route at places of interest including local markets, the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. You will visit the Botanical Gardens and a cultural museum in Butare, You will have Lunch en route before proceeding to Nyungwe Forest across cute hilly sceneries modified by tea plantations en route. Day 3: Nyungwe Forest
You will go primate tracking in the forest in search for chimpanzees, and colubus monkeys. You will continue on a guided nature walk in the forest searching for birds including; the black and white casqued hornbill, turaco and many others, the forest has over 300 species of birds. Day 4: Nyungwe Forest – Parc National des Volcans
you will transfer from Nyungwe forest park to Parc National des volcans. You will see stunning sceneries of hills/volcanoes en rout to Kinigi: O/N: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or Hotel La Palme (FB)

Day 5: Parc National des Volcans
After breakfast, you will drive to the Park Headquarters for briefing by the guides before heading for gorilla tracking in the park. Tracking can be hard ad challenging hence requires physical fitness of the participants. Parc National des Volcans is a forest with hilly sceneries, steep slopes and swamps can make tracking a hard and tiring experience. Tracking can take as long as up to 9 hours of a walk in the forest searching for the gorillas. However an our of interaction with this closest relatives to human is indeed a rewarding experience. Day 6: Parc National des Volcans – Kigali
Take a village walk to the Dian Fossey’s Karisoke Research Centre and visit local communities. There after drive to Kigali and transfer to Kanombe airport for your return flight (HB).
