While on this tour, you will have an opportunity to visit the ONLY three operational gorilla countries of the world ” Rwanda for Parc National des Volcans (PNV), Uganda for Bwindi and Mgahinga; and Congo for Virunga National Park. PNV, Virunga in Congo and Mgahinga are on either side of the misty Virungas. Start your tor from Bujumbura in Burundi for Source of the Nile or Kibira National Park before continuing to Parc National des Volcans gorilla park in Rwanda, continuing to Mgahinga and then to Bwindi in Uganda. Depending on your streength and expertize, you can track gorillas in their different, natural surroundings for a memorable experience, with each park presenting its unique attractions.

Day 1: Arrival, Bujumbura

Arrive Bujumbura On your arrival at Kanombe (Kigali) airport, you will be met and greeted by our smiling Driver guides will brief you about your tour in Burundi. Transfer to the City center for a Bujumbura city tour where you will visit the snake and culture Museum (Musee Vivant) Dinner and overnight at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

Day 2: Kibira National Park Or Ruvubu park Burundi

After breakfast, you drive and visit the historical royal capital of Gitega where you will tour the National Museum, the Catholic Section at Mushasha, Boman the Ex-German colony office, the administrative offices and the famous drummers of Gishora where a drummers performance team will be waiting for you for a cultural performance. Dinner and overnight at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali, Rwanda

Today, you will drive through heading for Rwanda and finalize with the border crossing with Rwanda and on to Butare. Lunch while there and visit a cultural museum. Arrive late afternoon. [Approximate driving time: 8 hours] Overnight at Hotel des Mille Collines, which was very significant in fighting genocide. (HB)

Day 4: Kigali to Parc National De Volcans

Have a city tour in Kigali in morning and in the afternoon, you will drive to the North of Kigali to Kinigi through Ruhengeri. [Approximate driving time: 3 hours] O/N: Hotel La Palme/Virunga Hotel/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (FB)

Day 5: Parc National Des Volcans

Transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla tracking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, arduous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. But coming face to face with the great primates is well worth the effort. O/N: Hotel La Palme/Virunga Hotel/Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (FB)

Day 6: Transfer to Uganda

Today, you will transfer to Kisoro and on to Mgahinga Gorilla Park in Uganda. [Approximate driving time: 2 hours] Either guided nature walk in Gahinga or climb a volcano, visit the natural, beautiful-looking Lake Mutanda and other lakes in the area, surrounded by the Virunga volcanoes, take a walk on the shores. Lunch in Kisoro. O/N: Travellers Rest Hotel (FB).

Day 7: Gorilla Tracking in Uganda or Congo

After breakfast, you will then transfer to Congo Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans de Djomba. This needs fitness and expertize as Gorilla tracking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, arduous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. Late lunch on return

Day 8: Back to Rwanda

Start early for Kigali in Rwanda via Katuna boarder this time. Go for a tour of the city including a visit to a genocide memorial and the art and craft centre. O/N: Hotel Chez Lando or Mille Collines Hotel (B-L-D).

Day 9: Fly out

Transfer to the airport for your flight. [Approximate driving time: 30mins]
