Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Western Rift Valley.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Western Rift Valley. It has mist-covered hillsides which are enclosed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, which dates back over 25,000 years. It is one of the largest natural forests in East Africa with both montane and lowland forests, and contains almost 400 species of plants, about 320 mountain gorillas,120 mammals, 350 recorded species of birds, including several primate species such as baboons and chimpanzees, as well as elephants and antelopes. There are  hosted in this forest, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.

Bwindi habituates about half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas with three families habituated at Buhoma, Mubare, Habinyanja and Rushegura – 8 permits are available per day  for tracking each of these gorilla families. One family is habituated at Nkuringo  and also 8 permits are available per day for tracking. Tracking commences every morning at 08:00 hours with briefing  of the tourists by the guides at the park headquarters.

Day 1: Arrival

On your arrival at Kanombe airport, you will be welcomed by our guide and transfer to Kigali town. O/N: Hotel chez Lando Hotel (BB).

Day 2: Kigali – Nyungwe Forest

Start After breakfast you will head for Nyungwe Forest National Park. Make stops en route at places of interest including local markets, the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. You will visit the Botanical Gardens and a cultural museum in Butare (Approximate drive: 5hours). You will have Lunch en route before proceeding to Nyungwe Forest across cute hilly sceneries modified by tea plantations en route. O/N: Gisakura Guest House (FB)

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking

After breakfast early in the morning, you will go for chimp tracking in Nyungwe forest, the largest in Central Africa. on your trek searching for chimps you will come across stunning wildlife including monkeys, several species of birds and butterflies as well as amazing tree species. Day 4: Nyungwe Forest

Go for a guided nature walk in the forest, a variety of animals and bird species. colubus monkeys which are usually in groups of hundreds 200 plus, birds including; the black and white casqued hornbill, turaco and many others, the forest has over 300 species of birds. On the forest walk you will also see gisakura water falls.O/N: Gisakura Guest House (FB)

Day 5: Departure

Return to Kigali, driving for approximately 5 hours and transfer to Kanombe airport for departure.
